Your Love of Opera Can Inspire Generations.

Through a thoughtful planned or lifetime gift, Legacy Society members help ensure that opera education, live performances and support for emerging artists continue throughout the Coachella Valley. A lasting expression of generosity.

Create a Legacy for Opera

The Legacy Society honors a special community of donors who provide for the Palm Springs Opera Guild through their estate plans or through structured gifts made during their lifetimes.

Classic Legacy donors arrange future gifts through a will, trust or beneficiary designation. Livin Legacy donors make planned gifts now through charitable vehicles that may also offer financial or tax advantages. Together, these visionary supporters strengthen the Guild’s future for generations to come.

Choose the approach that reflects your goals.

Ways to Become a Legacy Society Member

Planned gifts can be tailored to your priorities, your family and the impact you hope to make.

Classic Legacy Gifts
Arrange a future gift to the Guild as part of your estate plan.

• Bequest in a will or living trust — designate a fixed amount, a percentage of your residuary estate or a specific asset such as securities, personal property or real estate.
• Beneficiary designation — name PSOG as a beneficiary of a bank or investment account, retirement account, life insurance policy or eligible pension benefit.

A Charitable Remainder Trust is an irrevocable trust that can provide income to you or other beneficiaries for life or for a defined term, with the remaining assets ultimately passing to PSOG. It may be particularly useful when considering appreciated assets, including real estate or securities.

Living Legacy Gifts
Support the Guild during your lifetime through a structured charitable gift.

• Eligible IRA owners age 70½ or older may direct a distribution from an IRA to a qualified charity such as PSOG. A qualifying distribution may count toward a required minimum distribution and may be excluded from adjusted gross income, subject to the annual federal limit and other rules.
• A Donor-Advised Fund is a charitable account maintained by a sponsoring organization. After contributing to the fund, the donor may recommend grants to qualified charities, including regular annual support or funding for a special PSOG project.
• Local sponsoring organizations may include the Desert Community Foundation and Inland Empire Community Foundation. Donors may also use national or other regional sponsors.
• A Charitable Gift Annuity is an irrevocable arrangement in which a donor transfers assets in exchange for fixed payments for life. At the donor’s death, the remaining funds support the charitable organization.
• A Charitable Lead Trust provides payments to a charity such as PSOG for a stated number of years. At the end of the term, the remaining trust assets generally pass to the donor’s beneficiaries.

Important: Planned giving arrangements can have significant legal, financial and tax consequences. Please consult your attorney, tax professional and/or financial advisor. The information on this page is educational only and is not legal, tax or financial advice. Unless a gift is irrevocable, donors may generally change or revoke an unrealized gift at their discretion.

Direct your gift to what matters most.
