Can you believe that Opera in the Park – the jewel in our Opera Guild crown – is 22 years old on April 5? The concert has gone from a few hundred folks gathered around a rickety stage, to a crowd of 5,000 people all eager to participate in an afternoon of outstanding classical music. Our singers this year include Jesus Léon, Julie Adams, J. Warren Mitchell, Ben Lowe, Colin Ramsay, Christina Pezzarossi, JJ Lopez and Tara Wheeker. You may recognize a few finalists from our Vocal Competition, including this year’s winner of the $15,000 first place prize, Julie Adams.
Gather your blankets and picnic baskets and head down to Sunrise Park for a brand new experience – this year we boast a larger tent, shuttle carts from our dedicated parking lot at Palm Springs High School, and improved accessibility for senior and mobility-challenged guests. We have just a few spaces left under the canopy for a small donation, but everything else is free to the public! More details here.
