The Palm Springs Opera Guild of the Desert will provide the featured entertainment at the December 1, 2017 “Galen First Fridays.” Don’t miss this first-ever collaboration between the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Palm Springs Opera Guild as they present “DUELING SOPRANOS AT THE GALEN.”  Musical selections will include works from Bernstein to Mozart. The highly regarded featured sopranos will share their gifts of beautiful singing, sassy arias and maybe even a duet. The singers will be LIV REDPATH (Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and winner of the Palm Springs Opera Guild’s “Peggy Cravens Rossini Competition”) and LAUREN MICHELLE (Los Angeles Opera, Cardiff ‘Singer Of The World’ 2015). PAUL FLOYD will be the pianist (Eastman School of Music, Chapman College, Los Angeles Opera). Because December 1 is World AIDS Day, the sopranos will also perform an aria from a project called Dark Star Requiem, which is an oratorio about the history of the pandemic. This is the first time this work will be performed in the Coachella Valley.
