Join Us Sunday, April 7, for OPERA IN THE PARK. This year marks our 25th Anniversary for this community concert in Sunrise Park. The concert will begin at 5pm and feature Alaysha Fox, Krista Pape, Erin Alford, Corey Hable, Jésus Leon, Ryan Wolf, Catherine Miller and the CVCV Chorus.
The PS Opera Guild invites everyone to join the Guild family and participate in its numerous events and programs. The PS opera Guild was established to support and promote the operatic arts through outreach, education, fundraising, service, and continues to contribute its growth today as one of the leading Valley’s fine arts companies. OPERA OUTREACH
The Guild annually holds several lively programs featuring artists, artistic faculty, professional musicians, and moderators. Whether it is our lecture series, “Who’s Afraid of Opera?”, an Evening of Zarzuela, celebrating the cultural diversity of the art or our beloved free concert, Opera in the Park with thousands turning out each year to enjoy, there is something for everyone.
OPERA EDUCATION
Impacting and exposing people, both young and old, will continue to keep opera alive. Opera in the Schools is a two-week interactive educational that is popular with more than 25,000 students in grades K-12. OPERAtunity, one of our most recent endeavors, is an extensive program for young adults interested in exploring a career as a singer, or in the administrative world of classical music.
VOCAL COMPETITION
The Palm Springs Opera Guild Vocal Competition for talented young singers aspiring to a professional career in opera, is an annual winter event. The competition is open to residents living in the Western United States and Territories. Competitors must be citizens or have the right to work in the U.S. The age limit is 21 years to 34 years old for the applicants.
Participants compete for prestige and monetary prizes during the event. Eight finalists compete for more than $30,000 in cash scholarships – one of the largest prize purses in the nation for young artists. The next Vocal Competition will take place in December 2024. Watch for details.
The Guild hosts a variety of special educational and social programs and fun events for members throughout the year.
